Brian Thiel called me yesterday to report that his trailer had been broken into and that nearly $500k worth of equipment had been stolen.

Thiel runs the Miner Bros/Fontana combo. 2 motors, injectors, parts, spares, and tools were stolen out of his trailer Thursday. Many tools were specialty tools to work on fuel cars.

Brian is supposed to be getting me a more detailed list shortly, which I will post in the classifieds.

    Theft

This is like the second trailer to be broken onto in the last year or so. People have got alot of nerve these days. These sportsmen teams don't have a big budget like the pros do either case this sucks and i hope they catch the guys doing this.

The tool cart (if it was stolen) is a Black Mac Tools Rolling box which he purchased from Kenny Bernstein Racing. This item was FULL with tools...and I mean...FULL. That was about 100K worth of tools right there...

we'll see what is missing when we get a list from Thiel.

I wonder how many of the Alan Johnson blocks are out there? I don't think there are many.Could Bob Miner say any distinguishing features between it and the CN blocks at a quick glance?

Brian, so sorry to hear about your trailer. I hope all works out. People who cheat never get ahead.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Lauren S.

    Thieves abound these days

You know the old saying, "When the times get tought the tough get going!"

Some people aren't made of the right stuff. When times get tough, they make the wrong choice and decide to feed on the rest of society. While I think that this shouldn't be the case, the fact is that we live in times when you can get your throat cut for a $6 Walmart watch. Once these vultures realize the value of a trailer full of expensive tools, equipment, spare parts and maybe even the car, then we are all at risk for this.

Insurance! I hate the stuff, but I won't have a car, tools, equipment or hauler without it. I have already lost everything to thieves in California in 1990. They stole 3 complete cars, including 2 nostalgia top fuel cars that were just finished and had never been run, tools, spares, equipment and even the clothes out of the apartment attached to my shop.

You have got to bite the budget bullet and get the damned insurance. Trying to recover from a loss and setback like this can be nearly impossible.
