Brandon “The Kid” Lewis heads to the Indy this weekend intent on stealing the show

BROKEN ARROW, OKLA – August 28, 2006 - In his return to the track after mechanical problems doomed Lewis at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn., he enters the 28-car top alcohol funny car field at Indy ready to step up against the most formidable collection of talent this season.

Lewis’ said his crew has come together to do tremendous work at recent races. The team focus has been on rebounding from the disappointing finish at Brainerd and recovering the momentum they had built.

Occupying the No. 18 spot on the Lucas Oil Series TAFC standings, Lewis looks at the star-studded entry list and sees a fertile proving ground waiting at O’Reilly Raceway Park.

“The group racing at Indianapolis is the best group we’ll see in one place, but we’re not going to let that keep us out of the show,” Lewis said.

If Lewis, less than one month shy of his 21st birthday, can pilot his 2006 Monte Carlo late into the Labor Day Weekend event he will be ready to take advantage of the long waited visibility.

“Now is the time when we really need to show what we’re capable of, so the fans, the other teams and potential sponsors can see,” said the Broken Arrow, Okla., native. “If we want people to know how good this team is, there’s no better place to be exceptional.”
