SEASON IN REVIEW: BRANDON PIERCE FINISHES 2005 IN SEVENTH PLACE, PARTS WAYS WITH SOONER ONE MOTORSPORTS

GLENDORA, Calif. -- Brandon Pierce enjoyed the best season of his career in 2005, finishing in seventh place overall in the points standings for Division 4 of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. He has also announced that he will leave the Sooner One Motorsports Top Alcohol Dragster team that he has been a part of for three years to pursue other options in racing.

After competing in ten events this season, he advanced to the semi-finals in two events and scored his best career E.T. and mph marks at 5.35 seconds and 260 mph, as well as his best qualifying position at #2.

After three years with the family-owned Sooner One Motorsports team, Pierce and the team have decided to part ways. Funding and scheduling were the main reasons for the separation, with the team seeking more financial support.

Although a new driver has not been officially named for the Sooner One team, they have expressed that a potential deal is in the works for 2006.

“It’s unfortunate that we could not come to an agreement, but I felt that it was in the best interest of the team to allow them to pursue other drivers to obtain the money they need to keep racing,” said Pierce.

“I will be looking for other options to continue racing and build relationships with potential sponsors, so that I can someday achieve my ultimate goal of driving a Top Fuel Dragster or Funny Car,” he added.

The 29-year old driver, originally from Oklahoma, now resides in Glendora, Calif. Since the age of 18, he has competed in the NHRA Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street classes and most recently in the Top Alcohol ranks which he joined in 2003. Pierce has consistently improved his skills and his stellar reaction times have made him a feared competitor at the starting line.

With more than ten years of progressive driving experience, he was also highly involved with operational issues by working on each of the cars he raced. While competing in Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street, Pierce built the motors and did the work on the cars himself. As a Top Alcohol competitor, he was a valued member of his own crew, working on the car with his team in addition to driving responsibilities.

Pierce also stated, “I want to thank Sooner One Motorsports and my father (the team owner) for giving me the opportunity to race their car for the past three seasons. I’ve learned a lot and wish them the best in their future plans. I hope to achieve success on my own with another team at some point in the near future. I’m committed to my goals and will be working hard to return to racing with a winning team.”
