Lewis looking to rebound in Norwalk

NORWALK, Ohio – NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver Brandon Lewis and his family’s Morrison Construction/TigerFlow Systems sponsored team will be looking to break out of their recent slump and return to their early-season form during this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Lewis enters the event eleventh in national standings.

Lewis, 22, from Broken Arrow, Okla., cites the team will be bringing former three-time World Champion tuner Tom Conway, as a tuning consultant this weekend. Conway sold the Lewis family the car, which won the 2005 World Championship with Steve Torrence driving.

“We’re bringing Tom in this weekend to see if he can put another set of eyes on the car,” said Lewis. “We want to see if we’re overlooking something somewhere, so we’ll have him to help us make some decisions this weekend. We’ll just have to see where it leads, but we need to get this car back on track and start running good again.

“It seems like the go fast button fell off somewhere a few races ago.”

Lewis will also be racing this weekend with a two man crew, him and his father Dave.

“A couple of our normal guys couldn’t make it,” Lewis explained. “So it’s just Dad and I this weekend. It shouldn’t be that different because I’ve been doing the clutch and bottom end the last few races. It’s definitely going to make it tougher.”

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two qualifying sessions, followed by one final session Saturday morning. Eliminations begin on Saturday afternoon with round one, and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
