Lewis looking to stay hot in Chicago

JOLIET, Ill. – After a slow start to the season, NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver Brandon Lewis and his family’s TigerFlow Systems backed team are looking to stay on a roll at this weekend’s Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Route 66 Raceway just south of Chicago. Lewis made his first final round appearance of the season during last weekend’s United Association Nationals held there.

Lewis, 24, of Broken Arrow, Okla., cites a decision by Crew Chief Joe Monden to make changes to engine combination for the team’s turnaround. Lewis carded a best elapsed time of 5.33 seconds and a best speed of over 273 mph.

“We’re definitely pleased with the way the car responded last weekend,” said Lewis. “The car was just on the ragged edge of smoking the tires anywhere we went all year. So if we didn’t have it way down, it wouldn’t go down the track. We made a pretty big change, and it paid off. We got six good passes to get data from. I just wish we would have made these changes six races ago, but hindsight is always 20/20.

“It was a great weekend for the team and our sponsor TigerFlow Systems,” Lewis continued. “We had over 40 TigerFlow guests on hand this weekend, so it was nice to have them be a part of us going to the finals. It was great to reward their commitment to our team. We’re also happy to take our associate sponsors Morrison Construction, Lucas Oil, Unifirst, Ringers Gloves and A-1 Auto Body to the final. It was a big morale booster for the team and we’re all pumped about racing in Chicago again this weekend.”

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with one session, followed by two on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.

TIGERFLOW Systems, Inc., was founded to provide aggressive solutions to difficult problems facing the construction industry.
