    Body Burst Panel Restraints

I am installing the required new body burst panel restraints and a thought came to mind.
Why don't we have hinges on the front of the panel and the plastic bolts on the back? It would blow open and close itself without breaking the panel all to crap and hopefully wouldn't get into the injector or blower belts or throttle cables? Anybody got an idea why it isn't done that way? Dave Germain

We did that on our first body Dave. When it goes bang hard it tears it all the screws for the hinge right out! and destroys the panel.

Barry, Mckinney sells them. And they make a nice clamp style bracket to mount them to your body tree with a bolt on deal.

I got mine through Safety Solutions which is handled by Simpson I think. They only have one length though but they aren't too terribly expensive either. Dave Germain

    Hi Dave,
We had the hinges on Hank Coolidge's fist Ta/Fc with the plastic screws at the back. And as everyone else said, If she pops hard, it screws up the hood area where the hinges are attached. I spent many of nights with the heat gun tryin to get the "Fuser" repair to set up.
    Later, Chuck.

    Burst Panel Restraints

I appreciate all the info guys. I thought the hinges must have had some kind of problem or everybody would have them. They just seemed too simple. I mounted the restraints with body mount type plates kind of like a hinge in the front but with some slack so I guess we'll see. I have a new idea...lets not blow the panels out of it this time...Yeah, I know..purely fantasy. Wishful thinking. Thanks again- Dave Germain
