Here are your hard numbers; this will illustrate that the blown cars very well could have won any of the National events this season (except Houston)
    Nationals:
    Pomona, top qualifiers
    1. Hudson 5.379
    2. Hentges 5.387
    4. Federlin 5.419

    round 1
    Federlin 5.354
    Hudson 5.39

    quarters
Severance 5.35 beats Hentges 5.34 on holeshot
    Federlin 5.34
    Hudson,redlights

    semis
Myers beats Severance 5.41 to 5.42,
Hitchman beats Federlin 5.364 to 5.367 (Hitchman also has a .065 to .102 reaction time advantage)

    ***Gainesville***
    Qualifying
    (1. Gallant 5.321)
    (2. Force 5.368)
    3. Thacker 5.408
    4. Kelly 5.410
    6. Cannon 5.416

    Round one
    Kelly 5.387
    Cannon 5.411

    Semifinals
    Thacker 5.387, runner up

    ***Las Vegas***
    Qualifying
    1. Severance 5.449
    2. Perkins 5.459
    4. Hudson 5.465
    5. Tacke 5.472

    Semifinals
    Demke, Tacke and Wells make it;
Wells loses to Lucas in final 5.44 to 5.52

    ***Houston***
    Qualifying
    6. Jason Cannon 5.371

    Round One
    Wells 5.347
    Cannon 5.407

    Quarters
    Wells 5.343
    Cannon 5.395

    Semis
Wells 5.389, runner up to Myers, 5.355 to 5.307.

This was the one event where the afuelers seemed to have an advantage (re Gunderson's 5.21 in qualifying)

    ***Atlanta***
    (1. Gunderson 5.346)
    2. Wells 5.367
    3. Thacker 5.391
    5. Cannon 5.412

    Round One
    Wells 5.384
    Thacker 5.398

    Quarters
Thacker, ran .03 better than Datweiler but had .066 reaction time disadvantage

    Wells 5.385
Wells goes on to win the event.

    Divisionals
    Div. 2
    **Gainesville**
    (1. Reichert 5.343)
    2. Kelly 5.387
    3. Cannon 5.397
    Cannon wins event

    **Montgomery**
Kelly #1 qualifier, wins and runs 5.37 in final

    div. 3
    **Indy***
Thacker and J. Wilson, top 2 qualifiers.
    Wilson wins event

    Div. 4
    **Houston**
    Hentges #4 qualifier, 5.383,
wins round 1 w/5.39. Like the National event, the afuelers seemed to do better at this track

    **Memphis**
Jeff Wilson, made semis, #4 qualifier

    Div. 6
    **Mission**
    qualifying
    (1. Myers 5.336)
    2. Hentges 5.366
    3. Severance 5.371

    Round 1
    Hentges 5.359
    Federlin 5.394

    Semis
Hentges 5.36, loses to Federlin in all blown final

    Div. 7

    **Phoenix**
top 4 qualifyers, Hudson, Demke, D. Wilson, Cofini,
    Demke beats Hudson in final

    **Tucson***
    D. Wilson wins over Demke (in fairness, poor turnout of tads)

    **Sacramento**
Demke, #1 qualifier and wins over Hudson.

So far, except for Houston, the blown cars have been very competitve with the afuelers.
It will be interesting to see how things develop as the season goes on.

There seems to be much more parity this year.

Parity in the eyes of some is viewed as advantage in the eyes of others!!
