blown 540 lay down.

Hey fellas...i got a 540 bbc w/1471hh 4 1/2 setback. 385cnc rhs heads oddy cam grind Set strait up....race in short distance high elevation..5k on t-brake..6000+da..whats is typical opening pressure on port nozzle check and high speed check?...what kinda boost is around avg for 51.2% od....I know theres many factors..head flow cam ect...my problem is car lays down at top end...plugs are good...3/4burn on ngk 11plugs..32*timing locked.timing on ground strap about 3/32 from bend...have high speed cracking at 65 lbs. Ports check @11lbs..had gore do initial fuel setup...8.24 final drive ratio...highest rpm is 7400 and boost at 26#...200ft distance. dirt drags....I know its short for asphalt but 60ft. Data would give me a idea of where im at....cant figure why it lays down....maybe someone can throw some ideas my way thanks...anything helps

 

11lbs on the port poppet seems way too low for a 5000rpm launch. (depending on your system pressure)
Do you have any data logging capability?

 

No only thing I have is rpm and highest boost readings...were gonna get the racepak sporstman with egt module...as I think about it you right about it being to low @5000.it ahould load up the motor..I got the bv lean...now....its 4 flats lean from 80%...up to 60ft is hard pulling then it goes away quick...

 

You should be able to get a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in for now, just to give you FP at stage rpm & set your port poppet to suit.
One thing to remember though, the higher the port poppet pressure, the lower the fuel pressure to the port nozzles. This will change your hat to port fuelling ratio.( but will have a minimal effect on engine fuel volume as a whole)

 

Motor is running without any load after 60 ft or so an will not run.i race same stuff an i know my buddy Jim's car would do the same thing without a load on it.more clutch weight on his fixed it.
