i have a ssi f roter that i bought from a guy that ran promod out west. the blower has had all the mods done to it before i got it and was fresh. it makes 38lbs boost on my 540. here is what i need to know. it was brought to my attetion today that i took a spacer out of the top of the blower that made the top opening 9.5 instead of i think 10.5. anyway it makes the top shorter. what would it do if the was put back in the blower? did i make a mistake by taking it out?how will it make my motor run ? more bottom or topend

According to Rich at SSI putting the spacer in will increase boost but will lessen CFM. This really helps if you are running low OD. As far as the high OD's it appears that it is another combination that may or may not help depending on the car setup. The recommendation would be to try it and see if it changes the performance of the car. Make sure you use Locktite on those bolts that hold it in. If it comes loose it will be spectacular.

SSI told me on my 14-71 B-Rotor, anything under 30%, run both shoes (9.5" opening). 30%+ on Alky, run 1 shoe (10.5" opening).

Running nitro... Take them all out (11.5" opening).

They said the more shoes that are in the blower, the quicker it builds boost, but with a lot of OD it can restrict top end CFM (as Mike Canter stated).

That is hard to say. Since you now have a baseline performance with it out then I would try it with it in and see what happens. It will probably take a few runs to see the difference since the fuel tuneup will have to be changed to match it. I would be interested in knowing the outcome. After you tried it please email me at mike.c@mindspring.com and let me know what happened.
