Just got our PSI screw blower mounted on our BAE 5 hemi.

When we turn the motor clockwise (looking at the front of the blower) the belt wants to move back on the pulleys and ends up riding on the inside grove of the idler pulley. When we turn the motor backwards, counterclockwise, the belt moves to the front of the pulleys and hits the front flange on the idler pulley. If it was not for the idler pulley, I think the belt would just run off.

Has anyone else had this issue? We cranked the car and ran it up to 8000 and the belt stayed on, just rubs against the back flange on the idler pulley.

If my thinking is correct, the blower pulley must be pointing to the right a little. This would make the belt want to go back in one direction and forward when turned the opposite way. Anyone agree? If so, any suggestions? Or just run it to see if it wears?

    Thanks in Advance.

Theoretically the convex surface of the idler pulley should hold the belt in the middle. It may not be the blower pulley, it could be the idler. That would be easier to check first.

That would definetly help, but not all idlers are convex.
