Just recently had one of the mains saddled in one of my blocks after breaking a crank and tearing up one of the mains. Is it common practice check the cam tunnel for distortion as well? Should I have it checked to be safe or not worry about it? Thanks.

every once in awhile when I weld up a block and finished..I've had the cam in a journal be a bit tight if it occurs all I do is use a 2 or 2 1/2 inch dia. flapper wheel and clean it up and iam talking with the bearing in the journal..this works without any problems.....

put the cam in first and spin it buy hand and feel for any tight spot

    good luck..dave
