    filler

When I used iron blocks, always filled them to the bottom of pump holes. I ran tall deck truck blocks. The weight was more, but the performance and reliability was worth it. Had rods banging around the bottom end, and nicked it up. Never threw one away because of it.I think I put a sleeve in one once. .Wouldn't run one without it. Just one persons view of things. Unless you plan to drive the thing on the street, I would fill it as full as I could. In my opinion it helps the taller deck motors more than the short ones, those cylinder walls are just tubes hanging from each end.

Make sure you fill it before you do any machine work to the block, they tend to shift around a little.
