Need some input.I have a 511 blown alcohol bbc bryant crank brooks rods diamond pistons.Been running it with around 15lbs of boost below 8000 rpm.It has a very mild tuneup and its been running in the high 6.80s low 6.90 range in my dragster.I have 32 passes on the motor.I wanted a little input Im gna tear it down for the season should i just put bearings in it or should i send the rods out and have them serviced or should i replace them or just put them back in.Im hearing a lot of different things.Im used to running steel rods.thanks

Replace them with Oliver rods, expensive but worth every penny. Gene Terenzio Sr.

I'm curious on your bore and stroke? I'm assuming 4.5 bore x 4 stroke.

We put way more runs on then that and get away with it, how do we get away with it I don't know. We're tractor pulling and our runs are 12 secs long. In the last 2 seasons we turned our rev limiters up from 8750 to 9500 and plan on more next year. Of course this is our peak, but if I could hit 9250 coming out of the hole and than let it pull down to 8000-8500 I would consider that perfect (Its what I aim for).
We run 1.094 wrist pins with straight .250 walls (heavy) with Howards rods. One of cranks is 4.500 (bigger stroke harder on rods?).

We have 73 runs on one of our 4.250 cranks/rods and we're debating putting another season on them (approx 25 runs). I think we will pull'm out, check for roundness and length and decide from there.

    rods

Watch for SODAK to be asking next season where to get his blocks fixed. $1000 is cheap insurance. Don

How often do you pull the pan down and check rod bearings? How many runs do you get out of a set of rod bearings? Does the starting at a high RPM having your engine pull down as it progresses down the track seem to have and adverse affect on engine parts?
