Has anyone used a B&J converter drive unit? If so, are there any pros or cons.
Also are the 60 foot times slower or about the same as for a clutch? I would be interrested to hear any input. Thanks for the space.

We use the setup in a blown altered and have good luck with it as long as the track is good. 60' times 1.00 on good track. We only had this setup last year and there was a lot of trial and error involved. The only complaint we have with the setup is losing 700 rpm to the converter at the top end. Mike at B&J is probably the nicest fella I have ever talked to and he is very helpful.

    Thanks Greg

Thanks for the reply, I know about you folks, I'm orig. from spokane. Mikes a super nice guy to deal with. He tels you what he knows and not what you want to hear. Hopefully spokane will stay as a race track and not a slot machine parking lot or a # 2150 stay away from the wall compound, or west plains estates condos. Thanks again P.S. I'l stay with a clutch for the time being. Hopefully I'll see you at the track. John ( started racing in Deer Park 1965 along with Twig Ziegler and company )

    Pete,
I talked with the guy in Colorado, got his number at the office, that actually is building the units for B&J, seems like a pretty neat deal. Unfortunately if you are using a coarse spline Lenco, you're out of luck as he is only making the inputs to mate to a fine spline Lenco. He said he just didn't have enough demand to justify the expense of tooling. I'm sure they are primarily pushing the B&J's but they do have different bell housings for other combinations.

Greg, what brand of convertor are you guys using? Do you mean 700rpm of slippage?

    Ronny,
The converter is a Coan and yes our computer shows a 700 rpm difference between driveshaft and motor rpm. We had to change the rear gear to offset the extra rpm I had not anticipated. We were tearing up motor parts too easily. Therefore now Mike at B@J has our tranny right now and changing my first gear ratio to offset that. Hopefully, everything works as planned and we will have a smoother year this year. By the way it is a new car with new everything so we had a lot of bugs to work out.
