Has anyone had any experience with a B and J convertor drive and their two speed, rather than the more common bruno's and lencodrives?

Run a B&J three speed with the Quick Drive and a Chance bolt together converter in a T/D. Not a lot of runs but like, it has the air over hydraulic trans brake. It seemed to get a little too hot (no actual temps) so we added a external cooler with three more quarts of oil, no more heat problem. B&J hooked up with US Transmissions in Denver to work on the Quick Drive, they did the work on the Trans brake. Great people to work with, if you call ask for Tony.

I have two. And good luck prying them from my cold, dead hands. As I see it, it is the best of all of the others.

    Tony @ US Transmission

I had nothing but problems with Tony at US Transmissions. On his suggestion I updated the pump in my Quickdrive and inquired about a new Converter. I told him if I decided to buy his I would send him my car and engine specs via fax. 3 days later Tony calls and tells me the pump went out 2 days ago and my converter is ready. //////!!!WHAT???????????
I ask how he could build it without all the info on the car? Tony says he knows what I need and if it is not right to send it back for a change. Also he already charged my credit card. I decide not to fight it and say OK after some discussion. I installed the pump and converter. Start the car on the stands and engine seizes up after the prime bottle is pulled away? Found the converter snout seized in the pump bushing and spun. I repaired it and gave the very tight bushing some clearance. Warmed the car up and all seemed OK. Went to the track. Fired the car on the line but it never moved! We pulled the converter drive apart and the only thing we found was the pump was torn up. Towed home very unhappy. I have since had the pump re-machined and installed over sized pump gears. By the way the gears are stock Ford E4OD.
I have had the car parked for a year out of disgust and lack of funds.
The Quickdrive worked very well before the pump and converter change.

I like the design of the Quickdrive but only deal with Mike at B&J he is great and very fair.

yes, from a design standpoint this looks like an excellent unit, not sure of the price, but if you already have a 3 speed to bolt to it, would be a cheaper upgrade than buying a whole unit like the lencodrive, which has been known to have quite a few problems. i thought a trans brake was supposed to hold on its own, without locking the brakes up to do it? and thats an accepted fix? give me a break. ive been eyeballing this one and the donovan torque link also, pretty similar. would like to see more about both of these. we run on some crappy tracks and the auto seems to get down better than using a clutch.

I called US trans with a few questions on there unit when looking around. All I can do is speak for myself, but they talked + acted like I was bothering them we spend alot of money on our cars, and no will get any of mine when they talk or act that way. It's called respect. If buying something from someone and they act that way, I can't imagine what the support would be. They will never get any business from me.Don

Do yourself and the world a favor and call Mike (or one of the other guys) over at B&J. They are the ones that have the rights to make them, and they are the ones selling them. Mike is very knowledgable and very pleasant to work with. He certainly is a student of the lost art of customer service. I have also spoken at length with a few of the guys over at US, and althought they do the machining and the drive unit, I get more done over the phone with Mike in 5 minutes than I can over at US gear in hours.

    Mike and Jeff at B&J

Both Mike and Jeff at B&J are great people, Mike has bent over backwards to help me out and I will never run anything but his trans in my cars, even if my foot does get stuck between the trans and frame. I'll widen the chassis before I go to another trans. We are talking about getting the converter drive for our altered and a friend of mine here has one. He will not sell it! Seriously though Mike has gone far beyond what I would expect and has helped me with more than just his products and parts.

I can never say enough about him and Jeff.

price is 4200.00 with no bellhousing or converter, needs a 7inch or so to work. thats not too bad compared to the rest. also has co2 brake which works better too.apparently the guys in denver make this thing, but if you want you can order it from either him or b&j if u cant deal with it. im saving up for it now, nothing but peanut butter and jelly till i have it!!!!!!!!:D
