I know this topic has been beaten more than a rented mule but does anybody think the NHRA will notice how many A/FD qualified as compared to blown cars. I realize that O'Bannon and Federlin weren't there but nevertheless the qualifying numbers are pretty dramatic. For myself- I am still hoping to run a injected nitro motor in TAFC. Dave Germain

    Hi Dave,

Keep in mind that only 9 of the 24 cars that showed up were B/AD's and 4 of them made the show. NHRA needs to give the Blown cars something big and give A/Fuel back 100%.

Let's get these cars in the 4's where they belong!

NHRA doesn't want these cars in the 4's. that will take away from the top fuelers. the a/fd will run the 4's, i have no doubts about that. if it were up to me i would let the A/FD run 100%, and give the TAD more blower and maybe a few more cubes. they can't get any more weight out of those cars, so i would go with the bigger motors. i know that means more $$, but more blower alone won't make things even. it's really a shame that the A/FD cars have been getting slammed with all these restrictions over the last 10 years. it seems like the innovator always gets punished. remember what the did to Santos with the small block? he went by "their" rules and was making things very hard on the hemi cars......until the NHRA made him weigh the same per cube as a hemi. he had ran that engine combo for years, finally got it competitive and he got the shaft! then, on the other hand in my personal opinion i think a motor is a motor, and all combinations should weigh the same. they had alot of different weight breaks back then.
honestly, i don't think this class will ever be equal, and eventually i think NHRA will get tired of hearing all the complaints from both sides of the fence. this will probably lead to the demise of the class. there is no way to please everyone when there are 2 different combinations.
i like the blown cars better than the injected cars, always will. i totally respect and look up to those guys that have made both combinations really haul ass. i have been following the TAD class since it was PRO COMP when i was a little kid. i would rather watch the TA/FC and TAD than TOP FUEL. hopefully both combinations will be closer to equal in the near future than they are now, it's a great class. i know a few of my comments might ruffle a few feathers here and there, it's just my opinion.....not trying to make anyone mad here.

The blown cars need help in a hurry!!!! If NHRA does not do anything after the 5.18 pass second round at Indy you might as well say good bye to the blown cars. I wonder how they think they will fill the division and national events with no blown cars. Good luck!

    Hey all,

I don't usually comment on threads about parity, did that a few times way back when and got jumped all over...but anywhooo...Yes something needs to be done, but I doubt NHRA will ever change anything. Alky racer, you're right - they wouldn't fill the fields without the blown cars. Fact is, the A/FD teams need the B/AD teams because when you finally lose all the blown cars car counts will drop dramatically. Then what WILL happen next is NHRA will just take that as a lack of interest and toast the class. It's unfortunate, but I don't think that's too far off what might happen.

As for having an a/fuel TAFC mixed class...just look at dragster - t's eventualy be bad news for us FC teams too.

Please forgive my ignorance but, why dosen't NHRA just run the A/Fuel cars against each other and the same with the B/AD?
