    ez-up vs awning

Ez ups are good if you are doing mostly one day races. Today's new pro awnings with quick connects usually go up in 15 minutes or less once you get a hang for what you need to do.

The problem with EZ ups is they are good for shade, and that's about it. They aren't long enough to cover a whole dragster and they aren't wide enough to cover the whole pit. You might be able to get by with a light shower and still work under it, but if you get some heavy rain, chances are you and your car are getting soaked. It's a fair weather cover.

A pro awning allows you to still function in the rain. It also gives you the peace of mind if you want to leave your car out over night.

They not only provide better cover against the rain, but hold up to wind better.

I've seen my fair share of pro style awnings get tore up by weather/wind, but that can usually be avoided by tying the awning down and unbuttoning the ends to let the air through.

Granted, the pro awning is quite a bit more than an EZ up. Depending on how long of races you go to, whether you want to leave your car out at night to how quick you want to be able to set up/tear down will dictate what you need to buy. If you are on a budget and want more protection than an EZ up, you may want to look into a 'party' tent style canopy. If you don't mind having to go in the trailer when the weather gets bad, maybe an EZ up is the answer.

If you have the money for a pro style awning, you will be very happy with a DMP unit. A few years back, pro awnings could be a real pain in the ass, but that's just not the case anymore. Quick connects and new style end peices make set up/take down a real breeze.

    Hope this helps.

I switched from ez up to a dmp awning a couple of years ago, and we were kicking ourselves for not doing it sooner. Tons of shade, protection from rain, etc. I've never had a different brand, but I would reccommend dmp to anyone. great product/price/turnaround

Granted for a TAD or AFC racer a trailer mounted awning is better, but at over three times the cost it had better be:eek: If you stay at the track four or five days get the DMP if you stay one or two days like TDPO and we do then the ez-up is real hard to beat.
