IHRA World Champion Rob Atchison to be Head Table Guest at Woodstock Sports Celebrity Dinner

London, Ontario, May 10, 2006- IHRA Funny Car World Champion Rob Atchison will be a head table guest and speaker at the Woodstock Ontario Annual Sports Celebrity Dinner. “It is certainly an honor to be able to represent our sport at such a prestigious event surrounded by various sports stars,” states Rob Atchison. This is a great opportunity to promote IHRA Drag Racing in our area to a new audience just prior to the Mopar Canadian Nationals and the Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park which are in close proximity to Woodstock. The Erickson Tie Downs and tow Straps Funny Car will be on display so new potential fans can get an up close look. The dinner is an annual event which draws a mixed variety of sports fans from all over Woodstock and the surrounding area.

The fundraising dinner is in support of the Woodstock District Developmental Services. The WDDS has been providing continuum of supports and services to individuals with developmental disabilities in the Woodstock area since 1959. A non profit agency the WDDS is committed to supporting lifelong opportunities to individuals and their families to strive for independent living. These goals are achieved by providing services, advocacy and developing partnerships with other service providers in the community.

“The WDDS is a great organization that helps people with developmental disabilities” states the Champion. Their goal is to ensure people with developmental disabilities are able to live a life that is inclusive and independent in their community life. WDDS believes that each person is unique and should realize their full potential.

Following the Woodstock Dinner the Champion will do some testing May 13th at Grand Bend Motorplex before heading to the NHRA Division Race at Reading PA. May 26-28. One of the Erickson Tie Towns and Tow Straps Funny Cars will be on display at MacMaster Chevrolet in London the preceding week of the Mopar Canadian Nationals. Rob will be making appearances throughout London area with the media promoting the Mopar Canadian Nationals and his sponsors.
