We are about to spray the "new" fire proofing and the stuff is like water compared to the "old" stuff! We could brush/roll the old stuff on but this definetely must be sprayed. I am guessing more than 1-coat required. Anyone done this yet, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I havn't mixed it yet, opened it and it is like water! Your saying in seemed to "thicken" as you whipped it up?? Being a water based product, did it seem to thicken as the can stayed open?? Thanks Bill

Maybe like some paints that sit for a while, some settling may occur?

I took out a cup full at a time so it stayed covered. after it dries it has a thicker course appearance like trunk paint. It took a little more than 1-1/2 gallons to cover it. I'm worried about cleaning oil from it though. better save some for patches!..don't forget the other changes..seatbelts, cage cover, fresh air system, rear body latch, fire bottles, (17.1), belly pan, along with the usual donations to the sfi recert gods.Oh yea, a NHRA license and chassis cert if you don't already. time is flying..tic toc tic toc. Good luck!

Well, I successfully applied it last night. I mixed it with a drill powered mixer and it definetely needed that. Took 2-coats but came out nice and YES it takes more than a gallon. Specs say it adds .2# per sq ft surface area:eek: With everything we keep adding to the car, it won't be a problem getting up to NHRA's min weight! To answer your question John, I had it shipped when we had that "thaw" last month, definetely couldn'y ship it in todays 8 below weather. It is a water based product, didn't thin it. It does clean up easy. Has anyone hit the finished product with brake cleaner???

Mine was shipped yesterday, should be here in a couple days. Just a question, from what I gather if you have a carbon puke tank and stove pipe you also have to paint that? Do I have to paint my carbon roll cage shroud too???

FYI I was told by Peter at TPR2 that it's not going to ruin it if it gets partially frozen during shipping.

Ours arrived with the lid snapped open. About a quart ended up in the box. I don't know why the rest of it didn't end up in the box, too.
