Has Any One Heard About Whats Going On For The Alcohol Car's In The Ihra For Next Year.
I Have Heard 2 Different Stories And I Believe One Is True, But The Second One Its Like What, Your Kidding Me Why Would They Choose Not To Continue On Trying To Seal The Deal For At Least The Next 5years. There Are A Lot Of Guys That Have Invested Tons Of Money Out There And I Am Quit Sure That They Would Like To Know Whats Going On.

    clock is ticking

from what i understand, the class has until right before the first race of next year to secure a class sponsor.

the other question is how long is any deal they get? will they be on the same boat as the nhra pro mods - year to year?

    doesn't look real bright..

You probably have been asked this 100 times already
but what are the plans for the alky cars for 2007 and beyond?
We did finally get our new A/FC car to Norwalk for the World Nats, and had a very good time and plan to run many next year, but have some concerns from rumors that was heard there, plus the Bader's going NHRA next year.
Any plans to go back to the 16 car fields for the alky cars?
I hope so as many people made comments on how weak the nitro funnies were there, maybe they should continue to have an 8 car show and take the alky cars back to 16 considering how many was there.

If the class can secure purse funding, then it will run in 2007. Basically several teams and IHRA have been working on it since the end of last season. Several drivers have said they can secure it, but nothing is signed yet. We plan on having it in the rulebook based on the meetings the teams have had with us and the offers we have in front of potential sponsors right now. There is no deadline other than the first race of 2007 to have this in place.

Not sure what the Baders going NHRA has to do with us running Alky FC's, but I can tell you that since we moved to 8 cars, the program has responded exactly as we predicted it would. Tighter racing, better teams, lots less oil downs. We have no plans to go back to 16 car fields. We want quality, not quantity.

We expected the Nitro Funny Cars to start off weak. They are exactly in the same position TF was 3 years ago. Now TF is stronger than it has ever been and in time so will the Nitro FC's. The addition of Nitro FC's has brought the single biggest bump in ticket sales that we have ever experienced. Our plan is to work with them in the same manner we did TF and see where they are at by the end of the 3rd season.

Evan Knoll has a vested interst in ihra now from what i heave read , why not invest in your company , just a thought . The nitro fields are still weak in my opinion , just look at the car counts and bump spots for the past weekend . Werner is dropping out and will not be around next year and who is to say Clay ( their biggest draw ) will find funding to come back . I think most know where Koretsky's racing preference is . Why haven't more of the nhra teams come over , the purse is pretty good in ihra but most don't race for the money .

There was a rumor going around early last spring that when Evan Knoll was writing out cheques to IHRA for the different classes, he asked about the alcohol class and was told to put his money elsewhere by IHRA. Then in an early issue of Drag Review the front cover was an incredible expose' of all of the "extra little incentive goodies" that were brought to all of the other classes right down to the sportsman and bracket classes, except alcohol f/c. Pro Mod Shootout, Pro Stock whatever and so on. Absolutely no extra incentives for the alcohol class. Oh, and if you have an issue of Drag Review, just look at how weak the contingency list of companies is for A/FC compared to other classes. I'm not dissing any of the other classes, in fact I'm happy for them and love to watch them but who brought the companies that sponsor these shootouts to the table, the participants or IHRA? I don't think John Noble or Mike Janis have the time to spend knocking on doors to secure extra shootout money, yet from the above post with Skooters comments it appears that if the people that participate in the alcohol class don't go find their own money IHRA doesn't give a rats petuti, are not willing to help the class at all and would rather trash it.
Well, I just broke my soap box so I'd better go find another one.
    Mike

I have heard that rumor also Mike . It does sound like ihra has pretty much left it up to the racers to find funding for the class or it is done . If no funding is found then they can always fall back on the racers not finding funding as to that being the end of the class .

    2007 ihra afc

at the epping nh race i had asked mark thomas in the pits about the ethanol deal and he said that if it goes through all the afc racers would run ethanol and that it would cost $350,000 to sponsor for the year

we ran the Super Eliminator(then it changed to Pro Outlaw) class for IHRA some time ago. they told us we had 3 years to make the class support itself with sponsor $$. we were to have a meeting at norwalk and have THE TALK. well, needless to say there were only 2 people basically talking. Bill Bader, and Mike Baker. we raised $100,000 more than needed for the class and they said ........sorry, we are going to replace the class with TOP STOCK ELIMINATOR!!!! the moral of the story is.........don't believe everything you hear. they can, and will do whatever they want. just my 2 cents

Check out the list of 2006 champions on the ihra home page . Every class all the way down to the box and no box bracket classes has a sponsor except af/c . Sorry to beat the dead horsie .
