Yes mark , I would suggest you start learning to run them in the spring !It will take a few laps to get used to it but don't give up.

    Merry Christmas

i think the rule in pro stock is because they have been running without any kind of liner. maybe just a tube. thats why they made the beadlock rule. it will be interesting to see if some teams start using liners. would make alot more sense to me to use that tire.

Fom what I understood, and I could be wrong, the prostockers didn't use liners so they made the rule that they either have to run tubes and liners, or beadlocks. That rule is in place for the alky classes as well. But then again I may have misunderstood the new rule.

a well known racer once asked- Ever run on a rim at 250 mph? makes a liner seem awfully inviting, and the extra weight is right where you want it. [IMG]

we tried running the shakelocks on jasons car in 02. its such a narrow window. i think the tube/liner acts as a dampner. it also helps keep the tire from trying to wad over itself. jason's car definitely didnt like it.

As a general rule having liners gives the car less traction early. The only place where I can see wanting to use liners would be at Joliet when the tire is glued to the track and the car squats down like it's taking a dump and drives away like your going for groceries. Places like that you want less traction early so the car can get up on the tires. Beadlocks are fine but liners... maybe on occasion. plus there a pain in the ass to break down. Of course that's just my opinion I could be wrong.

our best 60 ft with liners is .904. We will have to work on that I guess. :( Sadly our times with beadlocks are not comparable.

We have been running beadlocks since 2000. The Mickeys have a stiffer side wall which allows much less wading than the Hoosier. (have lots of taped runs watching both.) Due to the drivers size we choose to run the one that weighs less. Both work, they just need a different combination to make it work. We are testing Mickeys new 36" tire in Janurary and it should have the about the same sidewall as the 34.5" Should help the A-fuel and Blown combintions. Will let you know the results.

R4K, If you had a .904 60 footer with liners I wouldn't switch a thing. I've seen teens run with a .92 60 footer. That was with beadlocks which are the better deal. A .904 60 footer is kickin' ass!!

Jeff, I would be interested to know if the Mickey's work on the a-fueler. The hoosiers's work fine for about 5 runs and then you start blowing big chunks off them at the finish line. I mean they litteraly start coming apart and ripping holes in the wing after only 5 or 6 runs. Goodyear is the only tire you will see on an a-fueler. The 1230 model seems to work best. They average 20 runs or so.

The reason NHRA made beadlocks or liners mandatory is because of pro-stockers trying to save weight. They would simply use sheet metal screws through the rim to hold the tire in place so the car wouldn't spin the tire on the rim. I don't know of any alcohol cars that tried this because they make too much power. I would recommend the beadlocks to anybody who isn't sure what to run. They're a way better deal. More traction and a lot less of a pain in the ass!
