    Ok I will go there..
It's a cummins diesel powered funny car ... Has a set of twin turbos , weighs 3070 w driver & in the high sevens with it , can run mid sevens..." maybe "....I guess the first hurdle would be fuel specs on the class & twin turbos ?

    Greg Hogue

The guy to talk to would probably be Greg Hogue. He's ran Comp and does a lot of stuff in the diesel drag world.

I would rather jack off a bobcat in a phone booth than have a conversation with that man...lol
Thanks for the help, got some guys on the comp forum looking into it & it doesn't look very promising at this point

John, the diesel and the extra turbo are the difficult components of your hot rod. If it were me, I would petition the NHRA with your case for a new Comp class. Your chances are great that they will create a new class for you, but, you will have to be persistent.

The fuel will be a huge limiting factor. And if they somehow magically wave the fuel, you will be in a class that is way faster than you could ever run. My advice would be go and hit the Top Dragster field and show them that you are serious and a viable combination. Then they will be much more willing to look at another class, or index for your combo. But I don't know why anyone would want to race comp anyway. They get treated worse than even the top alcohol deals, and pay as much as pro stock to field a car.

Thanks for the advice folks. We have been looking at the top dragster class & the changing of the body would go totally against what I've been selling to my sponsors....there are several diesel dragsters out there but for now we have a nice little niche with the funny car thing...I'm sure that will change someday buy for now it's a good tool for us.
As far as being a competitive car we know we have a long way to go in the Nhra. main goal here is to be able to show up with a diesel & let her fly...if we happen to actually beat someone at an Nhra event with a diesel we would all be surprised...lol
I will keep digging & shaking trees...maybe something will fall out of one....

Changing of body? Why? I have run super eliminator with my funny car. I have run super comp. I was even a #1 qualifier at a D7 event in super comp with my funny car. And I have run top dragster. As long as it is 125" or over, there is no need to change bodies. Yes, it is harder to see with a F/C body, but I have run there with no issues. Go and spank some guys and watch their heads spin.

I would contact the NHRA main office, specifically, Glen Gray or Danny Gracia. Explain what you would like to see happen with your car. The contact info is in any copy of National Dragster. I would follow up with a letter, to start.

if you want to run T/D here in Div 4 you better be able to run 6.80's or quicker. just a thought that you would want to know before stirring that all up.
