I have Built an aluminum fuel tank for my car and was wondering if I had to anodize it. I've done it before and welding thru it is no fun. I drain fuel after every event but was just thinking if it cracked again I was looking for easier welding. Thanks

    tank

I build mine out of 6061 bare and clad aluminum and I've never anodized or had a corrosion problem. We drain after every race and run Redline top lube.

Supposed to keep fuel pump happy and help with corrosion effects of alky. I've never had a fuel pump wear out since using it.

You should not have any problems if you do what Overkill69 recommended. But if you find yourself needing to weld something that has be anodized. Take it back to the plater they can reverse the electro plating process witch will remove all the anodizing.

It's anodizing not electro plating, they are totally different processes, and both can't be "reversed".

You can take it back to the anodizing shop to strip the anodize but it will also remove base material, i.e. the aluminum.
