Altronics Redalert

    I'm a bracket racer not looking for a full data recording system but need something to monitor egt's. Has anyone tried the Altronics Redalert system and what do most think about it?

    Just looked at it on the their web page. Looks pretty good if all you need is EGTs and rpm. The only thing I can add is what are your future plans as far as a data logger? Are you going to want to expand later? If so then you should also compare the RPM Performance Data Logger Model DL-20. Take a look at it http://www.rpmperf.com/datalogger.html
    If you are going to want eight EGTs then the RPM Performance DL-20 data logger is cheaper plus you get lots of other features. If you just want a single EGT the the Altronics unit maybe the answer.

    If you are using a mechanical fuel injection system I would recommend data recording EGT, RPM and fuel psi. These are vital in helping get a good tune quickly.

    I run the Red Alert program on my Blown BBC with 8 egts and have had very good luck with it. However, I am upgrading over the winter to the RPM data logger and putting the Red Alert on my bracket car. It's a sad day when you find out at what temp your pistons get a hole melted in them. But I know my limit now. (just a little over 1250)
