Alky fuel management controls

    got a semi technical question. on the 28th march national dragster they had a pretty good article on the big box and the fuel managements. not too specific,but a good start.
    question is what type of fuel managements do the alky funny cars,( both screw and roots will be different, ) have, and where would you find some info on this? looking specifically for
    a blown roots management and what it includes. what can I benefit from with all the widgits? I have electrical/hyd background so this stuff doesn't confuse me easily.
    go ahead, write a book. I like to read!

    fuel management

    Fuel management on alky cars has progressed from air solenoid valves controlled by air timers to electrical solenoid valves controlled by electronic timers. Some still use air solenoids but control them with electric timers. And some do not use timers and use the air pressure from the shift to open/close air valves. Then some use air pressure from the shift to open/close electric timers. Got it?

    Obviously electronic control is more accurate.

    All of the electric solenoids I have seen are Normally Closed. I would not recommend trying to make one Normally Open by turning it's channel "ON" the whole time the timer system is active. I have seen this kill a battery pretty quick because those solenoids draw some power if kept open that long. Might burn the solenoid up too.

    Dont you change the fluid flow priority from NC to NO by changing the port connections as opposed to the solenoid wiring? Thats the way the coolant on my mill works.

    NC vs NO

    If you look at electrimotion.com, which is the primary electronic fuel management log used. The NC solenoid closes the circuit no matter which way you plumb it.
