De Joria looking to rebound in Sonoma

SONOMA, Calif. – Second-year NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Alexis De Joria and the Tequila Patrón/Jack O’Bannon Racing team will be looking to rebound during this weekend’s Division 7 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma,20Calif. De Joria and her Bob DeVour lead team hope to bounce back after running strong in Seattle two weeks ago.

De Joria, 30, of Venice, Calif., narrowly missed making the field last weekend after running a 5.806 second elapsed time at 244.60 mph. The daughter of Paul Mitchell Hair Care Products and Patrón Spirits Co. founder John Paul De Joria hopes to continue making solid laps and turn her fortunes for the better this weekend.

“We didn’t get in last weekend, but we made some good point A to B laps,” said De Joria. “Things are coming together and I’m looking forward to this weekend.”

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
