Whats the differences between Alcohol and Fuel heads?
Is it possible to use a Fuel head in a alcohol engine?
Im new in the alcohol business and dont want to start in the wrong end.
We are today running a blown gas engine, and going to step up.

    heads

is it possible? - yes, lots of people run fuel heads in a blown alky application.

is it the most competitive thing? no, not in a heads up setting.

if you're running some sort of dial in class, you'll should be able to find a combination that makes your car run fine, but if you're going up against guys who have alcohol specific heads such as a fat head design or veney/bnr design, you'll be at a disadvantage.

the majority of alcohol racers have switched to a fat head design, whether it's bae, or aj, total flow, coline, nre, etc. These heads work well with an alcohol application due to the smaller combustion chamber and high flow. The smaller chamber allows for a smaller piston, which is better for rpm.

The Veney style heads have bigger valves and flow more, but the disadvantage is the bigger chamber and much bigger/heavier piston.

So it all depends on your application if a fuel head is right for you.

A lot of guys run fuel stuff. Darren and Dave could chime in. We're running fuel heads on our blown 526 hemi. We run outlaw 10.5, so we're mostly up against turbo, procharged, and typical wedge blown motors. I've been told that the alcohol head produces a lot of bottom end compared to the fuel heads. Not sure if that's gospel truth, but would help us since we're running a smaller tire and don't necessarily need the extra bottom end. Couple things to think about.

one good thing about running the fuel heads is there every where you can find a good pair of heads at a good price, I just bought a pair of mid to late bae fuel heads from paul they need in each head 2 seats and a little welding and I might add I just got these heads today and already have them welded up and blended out and ready for seats..I will have less than $550 in these heads, I now have 7 sets of heads for little of nothing, my car has been in the 5's @ the 1/4 and runs in the 3's @ 1/8 leaves hard and pulls good and I might add we have a wanna be glide in this thing took the 3 speed out and now we are havin fun:)..if you need anything call 620-249-5909 love to help people..Dave Lowe
