    Hi Guys,

After some answers from anyone who has run AJPE war heads in alcohol engines???? Was there any major differences with rod/piston combos??? Its a KB Cast 1/2' short deck block looking at around 450-470 cubes depending on avaliable parts.

    Cheers

There were a few different chamber sizes. We ran a big chamber set (resembled a big chamber fuel head). They used a very heavy piston. These heads are not designed for high rpm. We hurt them every pass in a 10,000 rpm TAD. We also ran the small chambered set that was very similar to a BAE 5 head. These heads ran well. The problem we ran into was that we couldn't find a second set for a spare engine. So we switched to BAE stuff.

Everyone will tell you they were good heads in thier day. The car i work on has WAR 105 cc alcohol heads. You can`t find an intake manifold, pistons and vavles have to be custom made. there are no more valve cover gaskets to be had, we bought then all from Walt. And don`t hurt a valve cover. People will tell you Brad 5 pistons will work, They won`t. Other than that, they are good heads. Do yourself a favor and put them on the shelf and get a set of Brad 5 heads. Call Brad and everything can still be had. Just my 2 cents. Tom.
