Heard from many sources that the AHRA Re-union Tour scheduled for June 19 and 20 in Calgary has been cancelled. What is going on with these guys? Reasons given was that the track was not in good enough shape to race on. They knew that last year.

Does this organization actually have the funds to hold these races? Why don't any AHRA promotional guys come on these sites to defend their actions? Why are results and news items (such as this cancellation) not posted on their web site? Was anyone from the first (only) race ever paid?

It is going to be hard to take AHRA seriously if this continues.

    Ashcroft

Ashcroft will be the next cancellation as they did not do any track improvements there either and I heard the race track was in terrible shape for 7 second cars to get down at the race on May 22/10.

Although I was not at Ashcroft May 22, I have run as quick as 5.90 there, and ran 7.00 there all last year. The track has always been very well prepared and a pleasure to race on.

Greg who did you hear that from, and don't say the usual "sources'. :D
The track is pretty decent. They would like to do some work to it, but it is certainly better than Woodburn, Yakima, Calgary, and Medicine Hat. The shut down is a bit bumpy, but not too bad.

    Spill the beans

The whole deal is really dissapointing for us.

I heard all the negative rumours, but chose to ignore them because I really wanted this AHRA deal to work out, and I really wanted Calgary to stay viable.

I started to worry when there was no advance promotion, not even a blurb on the Race City web site of the event.

My team stocked up on parts, tires, nitro and oil , got our 8 guys to book the time off, and tested in preperation of this event. This leaves a rather large hole in my very short race schedule, and of course the only other event that weekend , the IHRA race in salt lake, is all booked up.

I have the embarrasing task of contacting my regional sponsors and explaining that the events been called off. " Dont worry fellas! Our sport is professional and above board ! This kind of thing will never happen again!! "

I have yet to even get a courtesy call from the track, from AHRA, or from the booking rep.... . I was told by another racer to stand down.

why is my butt starting to hurt?
