took my KB stage six block to the machine shop this morning and he found the four center sleeves to be out of round, the bigger mesuring at 4.316 in:is that extra 0.006in from the theorical 4.310 bore acceptable?

I have always asked the company that made the piston because it depends on the makeup of the pistons.

    I would expect .007 to maybe .009.

wiseco runs tighter than anybody, probably .005 on that bore.

i think somebody on here mentioned running .012 - .014 in the old days but I doubt the pistons lasted very long before skirt collapse. Oil control probably wasn’t great.

If the piston was built for .008 and you’re now trying to go .014, it will probably run but I wouldnt

I use the 480 Venola 4.600+5 pistons which calls for a piston to wall clearance of 0.008-0.010 at the skirt. With your bore diameter of 4.310 I would say Bjs344 is right on with .007-.009.

    Hi all!
so i took my pistons to the machine shop so they could mesure the gaps and pistons diameters and try to make them match with the least amount of "extra" clearance but i got the bad news today:too "out of round" for the rings to seal properly so we are having custom pistons made and the sleeves opened to 4.340in finished bore.
    thank you all for input!!
