    Hey, Flash here.

I’m Bob Perkins’ tuner/engine builder/clutch specialist/top and bottom end maintenance/trans specialist and son. Anyway, I’m giving a BIG thanks to 2 people that made our trip to the Fontana Divisional this past weekend really great.

    #1 My Mom, Trudy Perkins.

As many of you already know, she kicks butt! She’s easily one of the hardest working women at any drag racing event. And she puts up with me and my Dad. (Probably the toughest thing she does.) Anyway, she wasn’t feeling all that great leading up to the race but she wouldn’t let us stay home and as 1/3 of the crew we don’t go without her.

If you were there or read the results, you know the temperature was constantly near the 100 degree mark, which made for tough work out in the sun. She still got out there and did all that little stuff that keeps the car going between rounds. Everyone knows all the little things that need to be remembered every run but don’t have a fancy title associated with it. (Meaning there’s not a “loading the tow vehicle specialist”/”weather reading specialist”/”parachute packing specialist”/ etc.:D ) She really does a great job and handled the stress of between round maintenance very well. Love ya Mom.

    #2 Gary Mink

We used to mud race with Gary all over the western states years ago and have kept in touch ever since. He switched over to Top Alcohol Sand drags not long ago and is currently leading the points series going into the final event.

There’s a long story that leads to the point that we no longer own a trailer that can haul a TAD to the races anymore. When we told Gary that fact over a month ago he immediately told us that we were free to use his trailer as he won’t be running for a couple months. We took him up on his offer and loaded enough parts and tools into it to go have fun and race in Fontana. It’s definitely not a glamorous trailer, but as Jack O’Bannon said, “Hey it got you here.” Gary even came over from Fresno to help us out on Sunday. So a huge thanks to a really good guy.
