I have a chrysler 8 3/4 rearend in my altered. I broke one last year, but I don't think it was set up right. My question is what are all the tricks to making it live behind a blown 540 bbc. The car is fairly light (1950 lbs w/driver), but I'm not sure how much power it will hold. I can't find anyone that makes aftermarket carriers for it any more. Any help?
    Thanks, Chuck.

Gee..... Thanks for the great news:mad:. I put a set of the MW billit caps in it. I'm going to try it one more time, but I guess I better start saving for a 9 inch. Thanks all for the input.

    speed costs

so after you get it setup "right" and rebrace it; it wont break? you are going from a normally asperated to a blown 540? how big are the axles? and when you put the f/c body on it to run 7.50s Im sure it will hold, for awhile, at least till you save up for a 9" ;) I think a well built 8 3/4 should sell for enough to help buy a nice 9". personally I like a dana 60. :D

Might I suggest putting the Blown 540 in a chassis with a 9" already in place? Look across your shop...Oh theres one!

Remember, 8 3/4 rear ends came in Volare's and Valiants. 9.5's are even better.
