It was talked about at PRI that NHRA would enforce the crotch strap anchored through seat and anchored behind chest line as per 10:5 Gen Regs. Under Funny Car ( not TA/FC ) it is stated they must use a 7 point 3 in wide harness. See gen reg 10:5. Gen reg 10:5 says nothing about 7 point systems, and there is no diagram. My question is if you go to a 7 point the 2 side belts are anchored behind the chest line and the center strap does nothing except hold the buckle, does this meet the centerline rule? It would be much easier in most cars to go to a 7 point system than reanchor the existing crotch strap. It would be nice to find out before the seat is made

Chuck, my understanding from Murf & Dennis was the 7 point worked as well as an alternative which is Pretty Reliable. (however, I, along with you, would like verification via writing as that makes it more viable than verbal, in my experience).

Dave Germain was told that he could add a curved bar under the seat back 3 inches to reinstall the strap.

I tried to call Dennis on Friday, but I was too late, so I'll be calling him again this week, unless he happens to pop in here.

I've yet to call NHRA to confirm since it's Not in the rule book that way. (although I did try and speak to the NHRA (sorry name??) guy with the rule book at PRI and he went to the picture of Stock & Super Stock for us to immulate (??????) ), no 7 point in that picture, so........you're question is a very good one.

7 point hareness not a rule

7 point harness is not mandatory for alcohol cars for 2008. before you start changing your cars please call NHRA TECH DEPT.
There is some revisions that will be posted on NHRA web sight that will clear up some of the confusion.
Unless you are racing Pomona you have close to two months before the division races start.
ANY QUESTION CALL ME AT 562-547-3183 THANKS....

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS BOB DEVOUR
