Is the new rule on oil lines being rated at 750 psi correct? Sounds incorrect to me. I did understand that "home made" hose ends are no longer acceptable. Braided stainless is out of the question too.

What do they mean by factory crimped ? , as in you call in the length and hose end types you want and someone makes them for you ? .

So who makes a large factory crimped oil line from the pan to the pump on a wet sump system?
I am currently running a Braided steel hose with Russel fittings.

Braided stainless is only rated to 350 psi isn't it? I need to order the 750 psi relief spring for my oil pump. I may also need to get a beefier oil pump shaft too.

    ;)

    Dragster503,
The new rule only applies to pressured oil lines. The pan to pump line is a suction (vacuum) line, so it is not a concern.

Marty and anyone else with information-

What company sells these "factory crimped" hoses for the pressurized lines (Oil press gauge, line to the filter, etc etc)?? I assume that some racers may already be using these lines?

We were planning on attending a divisional race at the beginning of next season to get some points to go to the Seattle national event with our TAFC, and according to these new rules we would need these to go to either of those events.

And just as another little side note/question since we're on the topic of a new rule, any ideas as to why they would lower the % overdrive for the roots cars to 1.50? We run a roots on our TAFC because our hometown track is IHRA and we run the national event here, so I'm just kind of curious as to why they did that. I didn't think that it was one of the issues brought up???

Nathan, I think NHRA made a mistake, forgetting some of the TA/FC still run a roots blower. The rule I think was directed to Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car. My brother got some calls into the tech department.

Most industrial bearing and hose stores can make up hydraulic hoses, with a hydraulic crimped end.Our shop makes hoses using Gates Mega Flex 1-wire hose, which I believe has a 4,000 lb. burst rating.Just make sure that if both ends have any degree of bend to them that at least one has a swivel is built into it, so you can line up the fitting!

Sure would be nice if that blower deal was only for the nitro cars, or it would seem that they would be totally phasing out us little guys.

Thanks for the info on the hoses, if anyone has any more info or suggestions on them it'd be great to hear it, you can never have too many suggestions.

    Thanks!
