    Hi Guys,

I'm looking at a new Littlefield blower (new to me). It was on a legal 526 Hemi Pro Mod (with all the toys, no expense spared, old Oddy engine).
    My questions are:
How big would this blower be (1471, 1671, ??) ?
Would it be a High Helix with a delta opening?

The reason I ask is I am wondering if it will fit my combo.

    Thanks in advance.

When you say legal promod I assume legal NHRA. Then it is a 14-71 HH with a delta opening BUT probably used before the 20% (now 14.5%) overdrive limitation rule came in. It would be a great blower for high OD but not so great now at the lower OD. That is all a guess.

Something else to check...the good Littlefields came with Kobelco rotors. If you are considering buying this blower then you should ask for the serial number off it and call Littlefield and find out exactly what it is.

    Blower

    Yes, NHRA.
Thanks for the info Mike. I'll see about the serial #'s.

    Blower

I got the serial # and called Littlefield.
    It's a 1671 HH retro.

    Now for my next question.

I told a few people what it was and they all said to "SKIP IT" and it's not worth it ($2000). Something about that there are no rear gears in the back case so the bearings wear out fast because of the weight of the larger rotors, the cases are too heavy and a 1471 would be better and faster.

    Should I skip it?
    Thanks in advance.

Thats pretty cheap. If its a good part, I would try it. Its probably worth 2k as a conversation piece!

There are two Littlefield 16-71's for sale on this board for $4750 each. How is the one you're looking at not worth half that. Do you have K11 rotors ? Mag case ? Case is the same weight as a set back rotor 14-71 I think. Cast or billet rear cover ? Fuel blowers had rear gears but no hi-helix retro. Something doesn't add up. Watch out for blowers bigger than a 14. A few of the southern pro mods bought 18-71's a year ago and then the rules changed. Made them into 17-71's. Rules changed again etc.

    16-71 Littlefield

The Blower needs to be inspected , Rotors checked (should be Kobelco), Condition of end frames and gears ( gear type helical/straight cut ? ) sweep the case bore to see if it is worth Investing time and money on . The Price is a bargain if the blower is in good condition . It can be modified to suit your Race Car and engine combination . The Blower may have the condition to warrant buying , but they do not usually come at their full potential from the manufacturer . Modifications tailored to your car can be an expensive investment, but well worth it .
