4.500 stroke vs 4.150

    Do a lot of guys still use the 4.500 stroke? What are the pro/cons vs the 4.150 in the 1/8 mile pm type racing.

    I don't know too many people still running 4.500 stroke. On the big 65mm stuff you already have to clearance the rods for the cam with a 4.150. 4.500 on a short deck would have more angularity issues and may side load the skirt too much.

    At the rpm's we turn now, a 4.500 would be really hard on the big end of the rod. The clamping pressure needed goes up exponentially with stroke. I know GRP offers a rod bolt material that is used by the mountain motor guys but it's a $300 upgrade.

    What about for a conservative TS/Q8 combo with less than "TAF/TAD rpm"? maybe a sub-9000 deal,

    You really need a 10.2 deck block for the 4.50 stroke.
