I didn't see the run and am in no way trying to take away from the Cox Racing Team but if the incrementals on DragRaceCentral are correct, has anyone ever seen an A/F car gain 57 MPH in the back half? 50MPH is stellar.
    660' = 223.54 1320' = 280.08

If we keep getting whacked to slow us down let's make sure runs are legit before we get hit again.

I know NHRA has NEVER had an issue with their timing systems before, but could it happen? None of the incrementals make much sense to me compared to Cowie or Nivers. Rich McPhillips Jr

2006 Pacific Raceways divisional race Big O tires a/fueler in
the Finals against Steve Federlin, the air switch forgot to get reset
so none of the timers worked, if I remember it right it went
201 mph to half track and out the back door at 261.22 mph. 5.60et
to Steves 5.35@264 of course that was 97 % too
which is more than 57 mph,
So yes I have witnessed it first hand.

    280 ?

Rich you are most likely right but as you know the people that do run these cars would not know as much as the people that are on this board always complaining about the a/fuel - B/ad parity but if you go back and see that most runs at 280 or around 280 they were 229 or better at the 1/8 with more nitro there has been one run already this year by a big speed car that went 229+ at the 1/8 and ran 270 out the back could it be done ? who knows but more than likely no but we don't know as much because we race the cars instead of race keboards

    Thanks

    280. mph

Did no one else notice his rear wing is considerably smaller and the strut location is in a slightly more vertical position ? This may apply more efficient load and considerably less drag and downforce . He is maybe loading the motor in a different and more productive way. I think maybe they have found a great package that is less dependant on power early .

Well, I guess the 94% didn't kill the AFDs on the big end. Parity seems to be the best it has been in quite a while. Maybe some guys will dust off their BADs for '09.

    Rich,
I was a crew member on the Big O tires a/fuel car when this
happend,..although we were bummed at the loss, it was amazing
that the car had charged out the back door, we (all the crew) looked at
the time slip, and thought it was impressive for not being able to have takin
timming out at the hit and dump fuel at said determined time of the run.

I am a racer not your key board jokey,..
I come here because I am currently board,...not skate board

did it again first round so I would guess thats a back up. Or the nose spill plates are too high and diving only at the finish line with the front wheels starting the mph et start. OR the mph et start beam is too low. But then all cars would show the same timing anomaly.

    BAD 58mph

Fast Ed (in the same lane as Cox)2nd pass was going 209 at the 660 and 267 at the 1320. When have you seen a blown car pick up 58 out the back???

    LMFAO,..IS THAT RUMOR STILL LINGEERING,...

It certainly didnt have to do with any of the fuel system,
nor the car going A to B.

When something falls at terminal velocity, it doesn't gain speed anymore. Right?

I'm sure the cars would continue to gain speed if they had the room to until the engine would explode. Could there be what you might call a ballpark terminal speed for the car's power and frontal aerodynamics, a zone at which it's just not going to gain that much more? The rate falls off? A ballpark MPH that the car is capable of on the top end with a good run that it could even recover to on what was a bad run earlier on? Could explain a big gain back to that zone on an early on bad run?

Both runs at PHX were legit, Engine RPM on the 1st lap was 6993 and the second was 7001 through the lights, standard 16 in wheels, 2.90 gear. And no, we werent cheating with the Big-O car.
