This was brought up in the other thread, figured it needed it's own headline to give racers the heads up.

According to NHRA D7 SRAC rep Duane Shields, 2008 Impact SFI 20 and 15 suits and boots will not be legal to run in Pomona. There will be some replacement models on hand, but contact Impact for more details.

I'm flying out Wednesday, so I can volunteer my Taylor/Phoenix suit for the weekend if someone can wear a big guy suit. I'm sure if we get the word out soon enough, we can round up enough replacement suits pretty quick.

My question is, why just 2008? Is that because it was only 2008 manufactured stuff that was tested? Anyone wearing anything that feels lighter and more comfortable than the old suits used to feel no matter what the date might think twice about wearing any of it.

Robert Cannonwisher and Hannes Warnhart had very serious fires in their TA/FC's a few years ago. Hannes was so huge the Bakersfield fire department sent water dropping helicopters to put it out, and that ain't no lie.

    Use your head.

I know for a fact that all Impact Suits are made in Brownsburg...that includes ALL of them.

Apparently it doesn't make a difference where they are built- they don't meet standards. It seems if Impact wants to continue being a part of the sport they need to get honest in a big hurry. What happened? Why did it happen? At the PRI show I talked to one of their reps who denied the whole -20 boot thing. When I called her on her obviously BS party line she gave me to one of the other reps who knew what was going on. He said to ship the boots back and they would look them over to decide if they met standards or not. They have had them for a while now- who knows how this will work out. I am so glad they didn't make my suit. I find it hard to believe that Bill Simpson (owner of Impact racing) would screw us over? Maybe that is my good natured optimistic point of view coming through? Doh..........
We are all depending on our safety equipment and the manufacturers to keep us a little safer. Maybe it's time for the NHRA to step up and police the safety industry? When I was in the service the Navy would place businesses that where screwing sailors over off limits to any further contact by the members. NHRA could do the same thing here until IMPACT does their job. I did my part- I paid for the "certified" safety gear, now IMPACT needs to do their part. Dave Germain

Yup, pretty damn much. I got a tracking number for my impact stuff today. They charged me $42 dollars to ship my boots back to me.

WTF. Impact can KISS MY A$$

    Update Time

    1. I was shipped my stuff back to me FREE, overnighted and free. Very upstanding. I jumped to conclusions (hate it when i do that!!!)
    2. I got a call to make sure I was satisfied and that my items did in fact get here in time for me to run this weekend.
    3. The new boots are very different from the original 20's i had. I feel better about the for sure.

Impact stepped up. It is nice to see it happen in today's economy. Good job guys.
