    BBC Combo

I am building a 540 4.5 Bore tall beck (10.2) Big M, 4.25 stroke. 6.700 GRP rods. This seems to be a pretty standard combo from what I have seen. We're going to about 40-45 PSI with this, so 35Psi should be a reasonably reliable engine.

    My 2 cents

I run a 4.250 stroke with 6.700 rods as well with 4.467 bore 10.200 deck. The cylinders look very good and show little wear as compared to my old 4.500 stroke combo with 6.585rod.

    New Combo

You can get blocks with almost any deck height. If you need to stay with a cast iron I think you can only go as high as 10.2. With aluminum you can blocks up to 12" (probably more now) It just depends on your budget.

Bill Doucet has a lot of experience making Chevy's go fast. Wesley Jones PM goes into the 3's regularly with one of his screw blown Brodix combos. He ran the same combo a number of years before going to the BAE combo. Give him a call at 337-543-2028.

    He makes good gumbo too...:D

    Hey Craig,
Is this going in a blown jet boat or is that just your avatar. If so, I would get the tallest block and the longest rod you can get into whatever stroke combo you eventually come up with.
