I have a MSD 20 with 6-shooter and leahy trigger and his timing retard controller. The mag has the standard cap. I run the generator timing at 24 and the trigger at 27. So my question is how much timing can you safely take out before misfire occurs with that cap.

Ive gone as far as 19 degrees with the standard cap. Without an issue.

Mike Canter may have a better or definitive answer...

Why would you run the generator at 24 and the trigger at 27?

I am taking 8 out at the hit right now. My thought was if I split the difference I would have less of a chance of a misfire. That may not be the case though and therefore my question.

I run a pro mag 44 with pro cap on a twin turbo car we go 20 25 deg back on the anit lag with no issues, 25 crank shaft degress only moves the rotor 12.5 camshaft degrees.
