I install mine dry because they get changed every 2 runs or so. If the panel is going to be on for a long time, you could use a bit of silicone.

Why do you change them so often?

When we were running the TAD last year, the boost was about 60 psi at 128 over, and we would crack the panels if we left them in for more than 2 runs. We're probably ok for a whole weekend with the funny car.

what you wanna do is on the back side were it is preferated put a large bead of silicon on there also I have put a 10/32 screw with a big diam. head on it and get it installed into the center of the frame that way when you pedal the car and the burst panel won't wease in and out on you, it will live so much longer...Dave

We do put a dime-size dot of silicone on the center button screw; they were cracking along the perforation. We've heard and seen others fill the entire back side of the plate with a skim of silicone...however we feel that they're there for a reason, I wan't it to pop the panels out of there if it needs to. We do run the double panel frame setup, so we usually just rotate the outter one to the inside ad put a new one on the outside every 2 or 3 runs. As Dad said we haven't had to change them that frequently in the TAFC.

    silicone

I still put an 'x' bead over the perforation part of the panel. I think the main purpose that serves is to make me think I did something.

I'm not a real big fan of silicone around the outer ledge and bolt holes. If anything, put a very, very thin coat. The silicone gets on the bolts then gets in the threads and doesn't do them any favors.

While you're thinking about it, go get a helicoil kit for that bolt just in case. If you have that kit, chances are you'll never have one strip :)
