We are running a twin turbo hemi on alky and trying to figure out what some good base line timing numbers would be. We are running 12.5: 1 comp enigne is a 526 planning on 30 to 40 psi boost max. I hear most blown alky guys are in the high 20's to mid 30's any advice would be great.

I would imagine that this thing will take slightly less timing than say a supercharged deal due to the increase air temps the turbochargers produce. Speaking of which what do most of you guys see for air temps. We see 150 plus about 2.5 sec into the run.

    Thanks in advance.

24 deg fully advanced at 40 psi? Do most guys lock mag to only 1 timing number cause we have the msd programmable ign controll and can run say 30 deg at 30psi 26 at say 35 psi then 24 at 40 or do most find a set timing number works better. I have to wack the timing back to about 10 deg total at the leave or she will blow the tires off. then i ramp it back in over 2.5 sec

I think your just going to have to experiment as to what works best for your combination. Most likely you'll find that bringing in more timing early in the run will pay dividends and due to the gear multiplication factor you can get away with it. Once in high gear the motor see's the most load and timing will need to be trimmed. Being a good plug reader will be essential in getting the motor happy with the timing.

    Have fun..........Ron Clevenger.

when you retard the timing on a turbo motor you will build boost faster then if its advanced. I understand the need to retard the timing to keep from smoking the tires. As stated read the plugs or have somebody that you know has the ability to read them and go from there. I have had several turbo motors but am by no stretch an expert. We have never ran more the 24 on alky, but I know the blower cars can run safely in the 32 to 34 range depending on the mixture and overdrive combo.
