You'll probably get a few different answers, but we run .090 piston to head clearance, .150 intake clearance and have over .200 exhaust clearance.

    Valve to Piston Clearance

I'm kinda gonna hijack this thread and I hope this is relevant but, are the numbers that are going to be discussed "only" for the hemi or would they be proper for other blown engines?

    Thanks

Nathan, if your piston doesn't hit the head @ .090" then why do you need so much extra on the intake to piston ? Exhaust is usually more understandably due to the piston chasing.
    Normally aspirated @ 10,000 RPM we get by with .065" & .090"

    clearance

I would think .090 + .120 would be plenty, so you can change gaskets and move the cam around a little. . Could be wrong . Don

    That's with .070 gaskets.

You can get away with .120 intake valve clearance, but at high rpms you'll start seeing the valve marks on the piston. Try to maximize your exhaust clearance (.150 plus) as the exhaust valve tends to hit the piston really hard if the valve spring gets weak at all.
