Small stand to big stand conversion?

Is it possible to convert a small stand 10" crower to the large stands??

I asked the same question to crower last year and they said no, but i had heard of someone in australia that said they where doing it. Interested to hear what others have to say.

 

One thing I would worry about is what Crower would have to say when it comes time to recert it at the end of the year if you did it.

 

They aint gettin it back.... Say what they want

 

Then it could make it worthless whenever you decide to sell it.

 

Cert issue only applies in US. Whereas most parts of the rest of the world its not a issue and is still very saleable.

Are you saying his location "La" is in New Zealand? I "figgerd" it was either Los Angeles or Loisiana.

 

SFI Certification is still needed for Drag Racing in Europe... so worthless here too.

Have you ever seen a clutch come apart? Let me know where you will be so I can stay away. That recert isn,t just so they can get your $75. We ran small stands for years. You guys are unbelievable. Don

 

If it could be done with a minimum of work i would look into it, like buying stands-floaters,but be safe and stay at home don just in case

 

Wouldn't you also have to open up the pockets on your pressure ring?

I would think converting from one to the other would be possible if you had a milling machine and wanted to spend enough time and money to make it happen. It would probably be easier and cheaper to find a used big stand. Of course there is that whole recertification process. It's kind of like building a small block up the wazoo just so it can compete with a box stock big block. Some guys just like to take the hard way to get there. Dave Germain

 

Kiwi's may be behind the times and are not known to having very readable place names, and are known to have the number "8" wire attitude, La could have been in lower Australia?

Aggreed it if you include labour cost etc it would better more cost effiective to purchase big stand in first place.
