Accessory drives

    Does anyone here run there fuel pump off the crank?

    I have a 990 pump, a drive mandrel for the crank hub,a couple of pulleys, and a one inch wide belt, havent tried it yet though, its all new.

    Would the large pulley small pulley arrangement on the crank cause teeth to start sheding off the belt? I could buy a offset drive for the cam, I plan to run the magneto there but the offset drives are hell expensive. If the 990 can be driven SAFELY with no belt issues I'd leave it off the crank. I just dont want any motor lean out issues.

    Anyone got any pictures maybe?

    Im not sure how much power a 990 pump takes to turn, but we run an injected SBC with a belt driven pump, a narrow 1/2" wide 3/8" pitch trapazoidal tooth belt, never had a problem. I think the 1" belt would work fine, but i dont know if i would trust it on my big motor either........ So i guess i dont really have a good answer for you. I think i would talk to RCD or someone...

    The offset drives have a small belt to drive them, I run a pump and the mag off of one. Cam belt drives are driving allot more than a pump also. You shouldn't have a problem at all.

    I run an 1100 pump as an external oil pump, using a 1" belt reinforced with s/s wire off the crank, 70 weight oil no probs, you will be fine running your fuel pump off your crank.
    Driven off the cam, in line, is a right angle drive (fab'd in my garage) that runs the mag, fuel pump runs from the front of this.
