I didn't want to hijack the other thread with the title Oil Pressure but someone said that you don't want to use steel braided line to go from your oil pan to the pump because it isn't designed for suction. Is this true and if so what should I be using?
A hard line doesn't seem like a good idea. I have a P&P Wet sump on BAE Hemi on alky. I am also running braided line to and from my System One filter setup. I haven't got it running yet so I would like to avoid any problems. Thanks ITA for all the good info.

I've been using braided lines for years with no problems..also I've worked on some top fuel teams and they also use the same as I..Dave

I think you're fine with -16, 0r -20 braided stainless pick up line. I think there would be colapsing concerns if there was any tight turns in the line - keep it as un-bound as possible.
System 1 side should be all pressure and definitely no concerns.

I used Goodridge teflon hose from Will Hanna. A little pricey, but no way in hell it will collapse. Worth the extra $ IMO

    Hose

I ran -20 line from pan to pump. I can not see anyway it would collapse. Have you ever tried to bend a -20 hose? Don,t worry. Everyone has been running them for years. Do what ever feels comfortable to you.I was told from Titan to run a -20 Good luck Don

    hose

I offer a PTFE Smooth bore hose (teflon inner liner-rated to 55 lbs vacuum) in light-weight kevlar outer braid or stainless (less money) if weight is not a concern. I know several racers who have killed more than one motor from the rubber line (regular braided) sucking closed or developing a 'flapper' where part of the hose comes apart on the inside (usually the bend or where the hose has been kinked). These motors and cars create some extreme conditions that are hard to imagine in a static state. Most of the P&P dry sumps use a -16 pickup.

P&P also sells a kit using hard line with a lip, which uses hose clamps to spring reinforced fuel line, then a 90 fitting with a lip for hose clamps to the pan. I'd use that if you aren't going to use a PTFE hose like Goodridge before I put a normal stainless braided line on there. Just make sure you double clamp it to prevent sucking air.

I believe that the problem with the standard steel braided line is when it gets older the rubber may seperate from the braid. The outer braid won't collapse but the inner rubber line might.

Many of you have never had a crash at speed either but does that mean you wont need a seat belt in your car? Spend the money and buy Wills hose or get the hard stainless from Steve Plueger.
