    absolutely

spin balance them. find a local shop that can take the hood off the balancer and spin them inner and outer. when people tell you bubble balancing is just fine, smile and take them to get spin balanced.

do you mean to balance the inner and outer seperatly and then put them together or do the inner and then put them together and do the outer?

    spin

I like to balance them inner and outer and try to be no more than 12-15 grams total max. If it's that far off either the rim is bent or you need to remount the tire 180.

Hey Joe. There is a guy in Downey that can do it. He did our tires on the Nitro Charger. I will try to get his phone number again. He worked for goodyear at the nationals for years. I will let ya know. Its just a short trip for you

    Will,
Do you mount off of the center hole or off of the lug nut holes?

    center

off the center hole. if you had your own balancer, a fixture to use the lugs would be ultimate.

I just wondered. I have to do mine off of the lugs. For some reason the floater hub flange is smaller (it's an old one) than the wheel hole by a substantial amount. Then there are those folks that have spacers where the flange is no longer a player. Those types are suspect.

FWIW, My motorhome had a vibe that drove me nuts. Wheel/tire balanced or checked several times. I wound up balancing the rotors and drums. That helped a major bunch, probably 90% improvement. The drums were scary bad.

Anyway, a small vibe was still there in the front. I had to hunt like crazy to find someone that even knew what lugcentric meant and had the appropriate adapter. That solved my final vibe. There was just a little too much slop between those 16" wheels and the hub.

When you stop and think about it and look at the wheels on the motorhome, truck or any vehicle for that matter, the lugs do the final centering. If the hole did a rightous job of centering there would be a taper involved in the flange.

Say.... if anyone knows of one of those universal lugcentric adapters for tire balancers laying around somewhere, I would like to have one.

    flange and liners

Good points Dave. All the balancers I've used had big enough hub flanges to locate the wheel, but lugcentric would be the best.

Another thing I think people miss if you're running liner type wheels or screwed tires, is monitoring if the tire has turned on the wheel. If it gets much more than 4-6" away from the original mount location, chances are the balance is shot.
