God is this an endless debate,

I assume you are not running an alternator (never hurts to ask) then 16v is definatly the way to go, you will have more output. The only down side to running a 16v is that a lot of the chargers spike to 19v while charging, that is they create square waves as the cycle so in my experience its a good thing to turn off the ignition when charging. I would also suggest using the 8830 capacitor at the point where you feed your ignition, this will help to suppress any voltage spikes.

Then as far as the battery goes unless you are really concerned about wieght and have lots of money to spend on shaky technology your choices are either the Rock or the PowerMaster the power master is 13 lbs lighter than the Rock but some people consider the Rock more durable.

On the other hand if you want to spend 2 grand plus on a battery and charger and don't mind a product that is still in the development stages (some blew up in cars last year) the the V battery is just the ticket at around 10lbs.

Also PowerMaster should be coming out with a 6.5 lb battery any time now so you may soon have more than one choice in the super light super expensive batterys.

Also if you do go 16v beware of any deals on used chargers, its always a good idea to make sure your battery and charger are from the same company

This is just my 2 cents, everyone has an opinion and everyone has a horror story, myself included thats why I have left thier name off my 16v battery listing.

    battery

Money is an issue or id buy a mag 44. So im gonna try the 10 plus but ive heard good and bad. So im just trying to prevent unnecessary problems. I thought about an alternator but not sure how to set it up with blower. Im new to blowers myself and just trying to get my feet wet. Ive heard of people making upwards of 40 lbs of boost with an MSD 10 PLUS so im just wanting to find their secrets, so any help is awesome. Thanx for the info and suggestions. Brian

    16 volt

We ran for years msd8 and msd10 in our 427SBC puting in 48-50lbs of boost
without any problems. the more volts the better Call MSD.
If interested I have 1 year used 2 AGM 16v baterries (dry cell) and a 25amp charger for sale. $525 plus ride.
    If you want picks acbowtie@optonline.com
Now have a BBC with a msd 44.

i use east coast 2025 mini alternator with 2236 bracket. has spacers to get alterator in front of motor plate and two piece pan. Works great. I have two odyssey 12V bats with MSD 10, but only 23# boost.

    Just to clear things up,

It is my feeling that there is no need to run an alternator with a 16v battery when used in a blown car that is only run for less than a minute then towed back to the charger. In this type of application you should have at least 15v available to the coil with a good battery.

On the other hand on a door car with ignition, multiple nitrous stages, bottle heater, water pump, lights etc. I would always use 16v and an alternator.
