    New Style Front Tow Hook

By any chance, does anybody have pictures or a diagram of the new style NHRA mandatory front tow hook that is now required.

    Thanks for the space Will

    Tow Hook

I dont have one to show you, but dont look at any pro cars either . on the TV coverage they are still lifting the body to hook the rope. Maybe they didnt have to have it. Kevin

All the cars have the tow hook, does not stick out in front of the body. The few I have done are a "U" shaped piece of 1/2" c/m tubing welded to th center of the weight bar.

I did the same but extended it 2" from the front of the body. Isn't that how the "rule" reads??!! Anyway, they looked for it in Florida. Wish I had my rule book handy? Anyone????

Thank You everyone for all the responses. I believe we have figured out the solution. Tim, one question... we were sitting around talking and were thinking that if the hook is out in front of the body wont that trip the beams?

    Thanks

    tow hook

It doesn't have to stick out in front of the body. It says in the centerline of the car and must accomodate a 2" hook. We welded ours to the cross member behind the weight bar under the fuel tank. Kinda handy, should have had one all along.

Ours is a C shaped piece of 1/2 chrome molly tubing welded on the under side of the weight bar facing forward. We've had one on there for a least a couple three years. Sure is handy.

Tim; as long as it's still under 40" overhang, they probably won't care if it's through the body.
But, in all my days of NHRA racing, they always enjoy a "this weeks" tech search. I've learned to always carry a hacksaw!

Yea I have a nice scare from bruises of hitting the new tow hook. When you have the car up on the pro jacks put a can cozi around it. Makes it much softer to hit the second and third time. HA HA
