Was NHRA sold??

There are rumors flying the NHRA was sold on April 17 and the deal is finalized. Like I said, it is a rumor at this point. Bruton may have got his wish.

I didn't get the call yet either. So, it didn't happen.

 

I guess some kind of announcement will be made at Bristol. Not saying the announcement will be that NHRA was sold, just that rumors have it one will be made.

 

hey will i have read several things in different sites such as competion plus, nitro mater and a couple other saying the deal is done and it was sold but it didnt say who bought it, did say it will be announced at bristol?????? i hope it aint so!!! i just hope this is all rumor, i have a very good source that says he will find out and let me no tomorrow if there is any thing to this!!!!!!!

 

There was no big announcement at Bristol like many thought there would be, however NHRA has named two new people to possitions in the last few weeks. This could mean that there is a new company involved and they are trying to get thier people in place before the anouncement or that NHRA is just hiring. Only the future will tell, unless someone gets the inside scoop first.

 

I heard "RUMOR"... that NHRA is not doing very well $$$ because of the lawsuit they lost to Pro Stock truckers. Maybe this is why these rumors are making the rounds...

 

The truck law suit is a problem for NHRA as any legitamate suit would. Unless there is some late breaking news concerning the suit it has not gone to trail yet. I am sure the attorney's fees are adding up though and the outcome is uncertain. This could be a problem for a buyer as no one likes uncertainty. Maybe the announcment is contingent upon the settlement of this law suit.

 

This lawsuit was settled out of court last month...

 

I heard from some one with NHRA connections that there have been no talks with Bruton. Thats what they have said before, and what they continue to say. I heard this from a very believable source.

 

I see Bob Meyer is logged in, lets ask Bob if the National Horse---- Runaround Associated was sold ???? Sorry I missed you at Indy Bob ! ! ! ! !

 

I dont know if it was sold but this kind of tells that He is trying to buy it

John Pesetski has been named NHRA’s director of advertising and promotions, responsible for advertising and promotions for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

Michael Schetzel has joined NHRA in the newly created position of director, national group ticket sales, responsible for developing group sales marketing opportunities for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

Just seems interesting that new possitions are being created in the field that Bruton Smith said he wanted to expand.

 

FWIW.I saw Bruton Saturday. He was at Bernsteins for at least an hour.Not sure if he talked to Connie.

 

Just curious here, not trying to be a wise-ass, but why do you mention Connie only? And not someone like Snake or Don Shoemacher, Joe Amato...ETC..ETC..? Like I said, just curious, you probably know more than me cause I don't know diddly.

 

But what do you all think about Bruton's posistion on the racers themselves?

Does this mean lockout if theres a dispute or disagreement?? Racers opinions and complaints ignored? Like Nitrohawk said. Be Carefull what you wish for.

 

NHRA was NOT sold. and it won't be sold. Bruton has said that he would like to buy it, but it is not for sale. I know that he did talk to a few of the team owners in Bristol about supporting him, but if NHRA doesn't want to sell, he can't force them to, so that's that.
